Review      : In book The Psychology of Courage, Julia and Al along with Mark Blagen write about courage or what has been referred to as “psychological muscle.” This is material that they know firsthand. This book is about what the title states courage. The authors provide a clear theoretical foundation via Adlerian or Individual Psychology.
This approach stresses the “indivisible” nature of the human character and the holistic nature of life. The authors highlight how to master the five life tasks needed to create a good life and provide 22 tools for the facilitation of courage. I especially like the Socratic questions placed throughout the text. In truth, this is less of a book and more of a manual on healthy living. I hope readers have the courage to read this book and the courage to use the “tools” to create a satisfying life. I remind the reader of Adler’s statement: “Mistakes in business and science are costly and deplorable, but mistakes in the way we live our lives may endanger life itself.”
